Hello my friends, today I am pleased to share with you a very emotional tour that I made through the area where I studied in my childhood in the neighborhood of El Vedado in Havana.
It had been a long time since I had walked here because after I finished my high school studies I changed my place of residence so I did not frequent these roads, so today when I had the opportunity to walk in these parts I was very excited, my feet went back to those streets and I could contemplate my schools and their surroundings up close. It brought back fond memories of that time more than 20 + 20 years ago haha.
Vedado is a very beautiful neighborhood because of its large avenues with leafy trees that allow us to walk under its shade, which is very necessary for the intense sun that we always have, regardless of whether it is summer or winter. The buildings are also very beautiful, most of them dating from the early twentieth century.
Hola mis amigos, hoy me complace compartir con ustedes un recorrido muy emotivo que hice por la zona donde hice mis estudios en mi infancia en el barrio de El Vedado en La Habana.
Hacía mucho tiempo que no caminaba por aquí ya que después que terminé mis estudios de bachiller cambié mi lugar de residencia por lo cual no frecuentaba estos caminos, por eso hoy cuando tuve la oportunidad de andar por estos lares me emocioné mucho, mis pies volvieron a recorrer aquellas calles y pude contemplar de cerca mis escuelas y sus alrededores, me trajo gratos recuerdos de aquella época de hace más de 20 + 20 años jaja.
El Vedado es un barrio muy hermoso por sus grandes avenidas con frondosos árboles que nos permiten caminar bajo su sombra, que es muy necesario por el intenso sol que siempre tenemos, sin importar si es verano o invierno. También las edificaciones son muy hermosas, la mayoría data de principios del siglo XX.
The school I have the most affection for is my elementary school, it is a super beautiful school called La Casona de 23 y B. I would have liked to enter, but it is no longer a school, since 2010 it has been the headquarters of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
It's a beautiful construction, I love its design because it looks like a small castle. The first thing that greets us is a large round fountain. I am also very struck by its very beautiful green roofs. I remember its spacious classrooms and its immense library.
I also remember the moments of snack where they gave us a soft drink and a candy and we had several minutes to play and talk, what times those were!
A la escuela que más cariño le tengo es a mi primaria, es una escuela súper hermosa llamada La Casona de 23 y B. Me hubiera gustado entrar, pero ya no es una escuela, desde el año 2010 es la sede de la Contraloría General de la República.
Es una hermosa construcción, me encanta su diseño porque se parece a un pequeño castillo. Lo primero que nos recibe es una gran fuente redonda. También me llama mucho la atención sus tejados en verde muy hermosos. Recuerdo sus amplias aulas y su inmensa biblioteca.
También me viene a la memoria los momentos de la merienda donde nos daban un refresco y un dulce y teníamos varios minutos para jugar y conversar ¡qué tiempos aquellos!
Now I am going to show you my high school, it is also a beautiful building that in its beginnings was a religious school of the Apostolate of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, located on Paseo and 21.
From here I have memories of my friends, the Volleyball games in the times of physical education, once I made the serve, I made 7 serves in a row giving the points to my team and we won haha, coincidences, the opposing team was worse than ours haha.
I also remember that when I was in 7th grade I had surgery on my tonsils, I had to do absolute rest in my voice and physique, I couldn't go to school, but I convinced my grandmother who was taking care of me that I felt good and that she would take care of me, but my classroom was on the second floor and I had to climb a very long staircase, my friends also asked me questions and I tried to answer, the result of this madness was several days in the emergency room in the hospital due to bleeding that had to be transfused blood. Since then I learned my lesson, we have to be disciplined and follow the instructions of the doctors.
Ahora les voy a mostrar mi escuela secundaria, es también un bello edificio que en sus inicios era un colegio religioso del Apostolado del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, situado en Paseo y 21.
De aquí tengo recuerdos de mis amigos, los juegos de Voleibol en los tiempos de la educación física, una vez yo hacía el saque, hice 7 saques seguidos dando los puntos a mi equipo y ganamos jaja, casualidades, es que el equipo contrario era peor que el nuestro jaja.
También recuerdo que cuando estaba en 7mo grado me operaron las amígdalas, debía hacer reposo absoluto de voz y físico, no podía ir a la escuela, pero yo convencí a mi abuela que estaba cuidándome de que yo me sentía bien y que me cuidaría, pero mi aula estaba en el segundo piso y tenía que subir una escalera muy larga, también mis amigos me hacían preguntas y yo trataba de contestar, el resultado de esta locura fue varios días en urgencias en el hospital por sangrado que hubo que transfundirme sangre. Desde entonces aprendí la lección, hay que ser disciplinados y seguir las instrucciones de los médicos.
All my schools were very close to each other, my Pre-University is the one on 23rd and A streets, it is a building next to the Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena. I remember that inside there is a very large central courtyard and all around it are the classrooms on each floor. In this courtyard is where the mornings and school activities were held.
Todas mis escuelas estaban bien cercas unas de otras, mi PreUniversitario es el que está en la calle 23 y A, es una edificación contigua al Convento de Santa Catalina de Siena. Recuerdo que en su interior hay un patio central muy amplio y en todo su alrededor están las aulas en cada piso. En este patio es donde se realizaban los matutinos y actividades de la escuela.
I liked to see the new park that is on one of the corners of 23rd Street and Paseo, in the place where there was a house that served as the neighborhood warehouse where the products of the regulated basic basket were sold.
When the building was destroyed, they left their columns and turned the place into a park. I liked the design of its benches made with ceramics, it also has abundant vegetation that gives it a very pleasant shade to rest and also romance, it is very beautiful and cozy.
Me gustó ver el nuevo parque que está en una de las esquinas de la calle 23 y Paseo, en el lugar donde había una casa que fungía como la bodega del barrio donde se vendían los productos de la canasta básica normada.
Cuando la edificación de destruyó dejaron sus columnas y convirtieron el lugar en un parque. Me gustó el diseño de sus bancos hechos con cerámica, también tiene abundante vegetación que le da una sombra muy agradable para descansar y también romancear, está muy bonito y acogedor.
