ENGLISH VERSION

It is the first time that I dedicate myself to walking along this avenue and admire every detail of its buildings and its natural beauty. I have always passed by car or I have only visited a certain place to perform a task, however, today I had the opportunity to enjoy a walk along this emblematic 70th Avenue and on my way I have discovered new things, so I liked to share them with you on this occasion.

70th Avenue is one of the most important streets in the Havana municipality of Playa, this avenue begins on the coast of the elegant Miramar neighborhood bathed by the waters of the Strait of Florida and ends in a very popular area of the Buenavista neighborhood.

It is a fast track to access important hospitals, hotels and recreational centers. It is a long, straight street with a central promenade, where there are trees and benches to rest in its shade. Along this avenue we can find a variety of modern style buildings.

From the beginning of this avenue along the coast, on 70th Avenue and 1st Avenue we see two elegant hotels that complement the natural beauty of the place. They are the Grand Muthu La Habana and Panorama hotels.

Here a very beautiful vegetation predominates, where palm trees and coconut trees abound, providing a natural beauty to this environment.

Next to the Grand Muthu hotel, they recently built a huge gallery called Boulevard Marealta, which has its entrance at the intersection of 70th and 3rd and groups a large number of stores, including the largest supermarket in the country. This is a very controversial market because products can only be purchased in dollars and the local currency is not accepted.

At the famous intersection of 70th and 5th avenue, the traffic lights were not working due to the absence of electricity or called blackout, something very normal in our country these days. To control vehicular traffic and avoid accidents, there was a traffic policeman who indicated by signs the roads that could circulate and those that should wait.

When I continued walking I was impressed with the sculpture made to the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat that resembles a tree trunk, this is located on 70th and 7th Avenue and integrates very well with the environment that surrounds him, it is a nice tribute to this Palestinian leader.

The contrast that we can see between the very modern and elegant hotels with the green space that takes us back to the countryside in the middle of the city that provides us with the ecological park that is called one of the lungs of the city, which is called Monte Barreto, is very striking.

From 70th Street and between 9th and 11th Avenues you can see rustic wooden constructions and guano roofs where food and drinks are offered. The lush vegetation invites us to visit the place to enjoy a day in the countryside in the middle of the city.

I really like places where there is abundant vegetation, this area is beautiful and very welcoming, I fully enjoyed my walk here, I hope you also liked it and got to know another little piece of my city.

See you soon!
