Hello my dear friends, I have proposed to take walks as an exercise routine that I need so much for my health, but so that it is not boring I go to the places where I usually do not walk or that I only know in passing. In this way I discover new things, such as monuments, sculptures and beautiful parks.
This time I walked along the fabulous 5th Avenue of Miramar from 30th Street, about 3 km. This avenue is two-way and has a wide central divider beautifully adorned with ornamental plants and benches for seating. As I walk I observe the beautiful landscape that this avenue has with colorful houses, beautiful gardens and parks.

Today I want to share with you my encounter with the monument dedicated to General Emiliano Zapata, an important leader of the Mexican Revolution who came from a family of peasants and dedicated his life to justice and the struggle in favor of the neediest.

It is located in Miramar Park, between 24th and 26th streets of Fifth Avenue, they are really two parks that are separated from each other by the avenue, both are very striking for their exuberant vegetation with trees called Jagüey whose scientific name is Ficus citrifolia , they are identified by their large size and large number of aerial roots that increase in number as their age advances.

The sculpture of the Mexican leader is located in the center of the park that goes towards 7th Street, has a height of seven meters and shows the apostle standing holding a saber in his left hand and a typical Mexican hat in his right.

It has been here since 2011, it was made by the Mexican sculptor Germán Michel Leal and donated to the Cuban people on the occasion of the centennial of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution, as described in the plaque placed on its pedestal.

From here we can see the park in front that has a beautiful gazebo with sixteen columns and a large dome, this has been used for cultural activities especially for children as a birthday celebration, it is a very pleasant environment to celebrate.

On the corner itself you can easily see a bust dedicated to General Mariano Ignacio Prado, who was president of the Republic of Peru on two occasions.

Both parks have granite lights and benches scattered throughout their area that invite you to sit and enjoy so much greenery and tranquility. Although the ones who are enjoying the park the most are the toties, there are a lot of them who look very happy, this shows the environmental health that is their paradise.

I am a lover of nature and being under the shade of these large trees transmits great serenity, spiritual tranquility and provides me with renewed energy.

Parks are excellent places to get closer to national and universal history through monuments and sculptures that artistically tell us the story of a personality or a historical event, so whenever I see a sculptural work I go to read its plaque to learn about its history.

I hope you enjoyed getting to know these beautiful parks and the personalities represented through the sculptures, which are a reminder of their role in the history of nations.

See you soon!
