Hello friends of Dayli Blog. Today I want to share with you a different day, far from my usual creative corner at Chocolates Alile. This time, the day took me down different paths, just as enriching.
As some of you know, in addition to my chocolate venture, I work as an advisor for a small and medium-sized transportation company. Over the past few months, this company has been undergoing significant structural changes, so my presence has been rather sporadic. But today, after two months, I returned to review processes, reorganize documents, and make sure everything was in order.
Hola, amigos de Dayli Blog. Hoy quiero compartirles una jornada distinta, lejos de mi habitual rincón creativo en Chocolates Alile, esta vez el día me llevó por otros caminos, igual de enriquecedores.
Como algunos saben, además de mi emprendimiento chocolatero, colaboro como asesora en una MIPYME transportista. Durante los últimos meses, esta empresa estuvo realizando cambios estructurales importantes, por lo que mi presencia había sido más bien esporádica. Pero hoy, después de dos meses, regresé para revisar procesos, reorganizar documentos y asegurarme de que todo estuviera en orden.
It was a busy day. While the operations team took care of their routes and vehicles, Yare (the lawyer) and I immersed ourselves in the office, amidst folders, contracts, and action plans. Despite working all day, there were still pending issues we'll address tomorrow. Fortunately, the team is hardworking and committed, which makes every effort worthwhile.
As evening fell, my husband picked me up. Since he still had some work to do, we stopped by his office, located in one of Havana's most central areas, right next to the National Museum of Fine Arts. I'm always captivated by that building, with its majestic architecture and its promise of art. Unfortunately, it's still closed, but I'm looking forward to returning as soon as it opens.
Fue una jornada intensa. Mientras el equipo operativo se encargaba de sus rutas y vehículos, Yare (la abogada) y yo nos sumergimos en la oficina, entre carpetas, contratos y planes de acción. A pesar de trabajar todo el día, aún quedaron pendientes que atenderemos mañana. Afortunadamente, el equipo es laborioso y comprometido, lo que hace que cada esfuerzo valga la pena.
Al caer la tarde, mi esposo pasó a recogerme. Como aún tenía asuntos por resolver en su trabajo, hicimos una parada en su oficina, ubicada en una de las zonas más céntricas de La Habana, justo al lado del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Siempre me cautiva esa edificación, con su arquitectura majestuosa y su promesa de arte. Lamentablemente, sigue cerrado, pero estoy pendiente para volver en cuanto abra sus puertas.
While he was finishing up, he decided to walk around the area. This area always surprises me. In front of the Gran Manzana Hotel, on Avenida Bélgica, I discovered a huge mural that, although it's been there for almost a year, I saw for the first time. It was inaugurated on the 25th anniversary of the cooperation agreement between Brussels and Havana, and depicts the Belgian comic strip characters Blake and Mortimer, created in 1946. The design is the work of a Belgian cartoonist, and the execution was done by two Cuban artists. I set out to locate and learn about this story, which until now had been unknown to me.

I continued walking until I reached Central Park and, just below the Balcón Arte Espacio, I came across a bookstore whose design I really liked. I barely saw the books, right at the entrance. It was Librería Abril, located in the headquarters of the publishing house of the same name. The interior is a true work of art: vibrant murals cover the walls, and lamps in the shape of open books hang from the ceiling, as if literature were floating above our heads. I felt enveloped in a universe where reading is also contemplation.
Seguí caminando hasta llegar al Parque Central y, justo debajo del Balcón Arte Espacio, me encontré con una librería que me gustó mucho su diseño. Apenas vi los libros, entré. Se trata de la Librería Abril, ubicada en la sede de la casa editora del mismo nombre. El interior es una verdadera obra de arte: murales vibrantes cubren las paredes, y del techo cuelgan lámparas en forma de libros abiertos, como si la literatura flotara sobre nuestras cabezas. Me sentí envuelta en un universo donde leer es también contemplar.
A clerk explained to me that the bookstore has nearly 800 titles, in Spanish and English, designed especially for children, adolescents, and young adults. In addition to being a reading space, it also functions as a cultural meeting point, where art and literature intertwine.
Una dependiente me explicó que la librería cuenta con cerca de 800 títulos, en español e inglés, pensados especialmente para niños, adolescentes y jóvenes. Además de ser un espacio de lectura, funciona como punto de encuentro cultural, donde el arte y la literatura se abrazan.
My visit was brief, as my husband had already finished and we had to leave. I returned in a hurry, but happy with the day's discoveries. I know I'll return to that bookstore leisurely, to explore its back and choose a book that inspires me.
