Have a rainy day hivers! How was the weather in your area? Mine is so rainy for the past 3 days and until now and we are expecting this weather for 2 weeks more because there is a low pressure in our vicinity. Even though it's a rainy day but today I was so happy because I received unexpected surprises from my husband which he didn't do for a long time.
It was 5 am in the morning that he woke up because he has to go jogging towards his office. It was his daily routine in the week days. Then he got home at 6 am and he bought something. I always knew he would buy bread or cookies but today he bought cookies for the kids and he bought me my favorite custard cake. I always say this is my favorite and whenever I go to the town I always bought this that's why he knew this is my favorite. But he never bought me because this one is expensive and I was surprised that yesterday he bought me one. I was so happy and kind of doubting why did he bought something for me. It looks strange but he said he just pass by and saw there are lots of it and bought one because he has extra money.
Then after he took a bath he went to their activity which is blood letting. After 2 hours he went home and he surprises me again with different kinds of vegetables. I was so excited looking at him getting the stuff out from the motorcycle box. I never thought it was so many.
I excitedly pile it and remove it from the plastic. It has pako, a local edible fern, egg plant, okra, sayote, cucumber and a whole squash. The last time he surprises me with vegetables was 2 months ago when he also went to the same place for a coastal clean up.
Then I prepare something for breakfast. He said he will eat first before heading towards his office so I'm thinking of making a pako salad since it's fast to make. I just cut the stems, steamed it and prepare a sauce which is only a vinegar, onion, msg and salt. Then after 5 minutes it's ready. Then we ate together. My kids also love this vegetables so much whether what's the recipe.
And by the lunch time, I made "steamed monggo with vegetables". First I boiled the monggo seeds until it's soft. Then add water and vegetables like squash, chayote, eggplant, okra and for the leaves I added pako and kangkong leaves. I added msg and salt and it tasted good and I never knew that I didn't put onions or ginger on it. I think I was too excited to finish it cooking.
Then I grabbed a bowl of it. I also had fermented fish here. It's just day 4 but I think it was good and it was really good because these are small fishes that's why they are easily cooked by a venigar and salt. And this is a perfect pair for steamed vegetables.
And by the dinner time, I made vegetable pakbet. This is also a combination of squash, egg plant, okra and chayote in a fried recipe. This one is also my kids favorite.
And that's all for my yesterday. It was so meaningful to me. I hope you like my blog. Thank you for your time and reading it and for your remarkable comments. See you next time!
