Call me crazy, but this past week has been kind of fun. Of course not the portfolio losing half of its value thing, but the fact that crypto is actually doing something is for lack of a better word, "refreshing". I'm one of those lucky people who have a full time job that pays a liveable wage, so while not optimal, whatever happens in the crypto world doesn't have too much of an impact on my finances. Which in effect means it should have less of an impact on my mental health as well.
Don't get me wrong, all time highs are great. I'd much prefer that than what we are seeing now, but after a prolonged period of time just hovering around the same price point with a few pumps here and there, I'm happy to see the volatility that we have come to know and love from crypto.
It feels like the good old days
Though I didn't learn my lesson through the last few cycles, the one thing I did learn is that if the price goes down, it will usually go back up again. Now, if we come back in three years and BTC is still kicking around the $50,000 to $60,000 mark, you are more than welcome to tell me you told me so.

I told @mrsbozz the other day that I am going to be keeping an eye on the markets pretty closely and if things continue to drop, I might have to take out a home equity loan on the house. Just kidding, I wouldn't do that, but some strategic buys are looking like a distinct possibility right now.
Precious Metals
Precious metals are doing whatever. I haven't really been keeping track of them, but every now and then I happen to see the spot price of silver. It's almost down to the point where I made my Christmas buys. I'm not too sad about that, though the $200 to $300 range people were talking about before would be nicer. The fact is, I started collecting silver because I like the different designs and despite the recent price movement, I still think it is a good store of value.
Unlike my NFTs during that craze, I never purchased any of my silver thinking I would be able to flip if for a profit down the road. At the very least I just hoped I would be able to flip it for what I bought it for if the need ever arose.
Even better, I'd love to be able to pass it along to my nieces and nephews one day.

NuScale Energy
Nuclear stocks have taken a bit of a beating lately. With earnings reports coming in less than favorable due to the roll out of new technologies and new facilities happening a lot slower than anyone had hoped. Add to that the fact that there is probably a lot of other stuff going on in the background at the hands of the gas and oil industry and it's easy to feel like nuclear is a losing play.
I still have a lot of hope in the nuclear power field and although there are a lot of other stocks out there, SMR is still one of my darlings. The news came out the other day that:
"Duke Energy has submitted an early site permit application to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission for NuScale Power's VOYGR small modular reactor design."
This could be a huge win for SMR if it actually pushes through and they can deliver the product. Up until now they still haven't done that. I'm not sure if it is because they can't or if it is because they haven't needed to.
I also heard a little bit ago that there is a power company outside of the US that is very interested in using the NuScale design in a future project. That could be good too. For now the price seems to be holding around the $15 mark last I checked. Still up from the $10 per share price during the IPO, but way down from the $50 mark we hit last year.

HIVE and The Pub
I am not going to talk too much about HIVE today. The price of the token doesn't give us a lot to get excited about, but I keep showing up every day and creating. As many people have pointed out, you get the best bang for your buck right now, so doing what you have usually done is a much better option than just giving up. It is nice to see the HBD price back up around the $1 mark where it belongs.
While the Discord for The Pub has died down a bit, the community itself is still growing and active. I have been kicking around the idea of creating a weekly prompt for The Pub using the @thepub account. I still haven't decided if I want to burn the rewards from that account for each weekly prompt post or delegate them 100% to @commentrewarder or something.
It would be nice to grow that account enough that it could give some upvotes to people who post in the community using the prompt, but it was never our intent to make money off of this. We just wanted a community where people could hang out and socialize in a pub like atmosphere. Ideally, some of the curation groups will start visiting us regularly and then it will be a moot point.
I don't have an official start date, but if you aren't following @thepub account, do that so you don't miss when the prompts are dropped.
That's all I have for this week. If you are a football fan, I hope you enjoy the Superbowl. If you are a Bad Bunny fan, I hope you enjoy the halftime show. At the very least, I hope you have some awesome food and a relaxing weekend!
