The Noise That Keeps Me From Sleeping Good

There are many annoying sounds in the world that get on people's nerves. Loud chewing, nails on a chalkboard, a leaky faucet dripping ,they all make someone cringe. But nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, irritates and upsets me as much as the sound of very loud grunting noises. Just thinking about that unpleasant sound puts me in a bad mood.

I first realized how much I hated it when I went to church camp at a teenager, I was excited to stay up late with new friends in the hostel room that was kept for us, But those plans were quickly ruined after lights out. One of the camper made explosive grunting sounds like a chainsaw revving up over and over all night long. It made sleeping impossible.

Instead of bonding, I tossed and turned all night trying to muffle the terrible sputtering across the room. In the morning, I was a zombie , tired and cranky. I would glare at the person still happily making those loud sleeping sounds with their mouth wide open. That ruined my sleep made me hate the noise to this day.

As an adult, I keep getting woken up by loud grunters on a regular basis. In my dating days as soon as that peaceful period between lights out and the grunting started, I will get jolted awake to loud roaring. I will have to wake them shouting "Roll over! You're making noise!" just to get an hour or two of quiet before more roars.

Even now married, the struggle persists despite doing everything to stop it. When my spouse is making lumber yard level sounds most nights, I give up and sleep somewhere else just to get decent rest. But I hate having to abandon my own bed over a bodily noise.

The problem is those grunts are impossible to simply tune out or get used to. I've tried everything from daydreaming to playing audio to drown it out. But those harsh gravelly tones bursting at random still startle me awake constantly.

Part of the issue is how they start softly, tricking you into thinking it will stay mild. But before you know it, those quiet puffs turn into deafening bellows that punch you awake again from dreamy sleep without warning.

Even worse is the unpredictable pattern of sputters followed by long pauses where you think it stopped, then another unexpected explosive chest roar suddenly smashing through the silence. It leaves you tossing and turning unable to find any restful groove.

And I haven't mentioned the bodily rage from being woken abruptly multiple times in one night by loud nasal explosions. It puts your body into panic mode instantly amping up stress hormones. So not only do you feel unrested, you start your day filled with unnecessary anxiety too.
Maybe I should blame my not being able.to sleep deeply

Sleep is meant to re-charge you for tomorrow. Yet this noise actively disrupts and deprives your rest until you somehow feel more depleted upon waking than going to bed. It flat out ruins what should be the most restoring part of the day.

So I loathe this loud grunting more than any other noise because it deprives me of quality sleep critical to function normally. It's an unfair, maddening noise you have no control over except to flee the room away from the disturbance. And who wants to abandon their own bed's peace over something so inconsiderate? Not me.hehhe.

We all experienced this at the church camp at some point in our lives😂😂.
It’s literally impossible to sleep at night. I can pay anything back then to stop the creepy and disturbing sounds at night, I repeat anything!!

You woke up like a zombie?
I don’t think I’ve experienced anything like that and I’ve definitely not gone for a church camp before and I now understand why because I know I’ll pour water on the person by mistake 🤣
