Situational Ethics

I actually asked my mom if she would return missing but found $500,000 back to a politician and even before I could end my question she screamed No!
We had a good laugh for about 2 minutes straight and then I asked her why.

She also asked me why she should send that money back to someone who probably stole it from us in the first place. And then she added it she’s sure so it’s even the nation’s taxes. She said a lot of things that I don’t even want to share but she made my point for me.

No matter how we preach about the love of money being evil, let’s be honest for a second, we all want money. It’s the reason why we wake up each day and do all that we do. So seeing that kind of money, I know that my prayers have been answered and all the taxes my family and I have been paying have found their way back to us. And I’m definitely taking that money to my house.

Before you even ask me if I won’t send it to the police, let me tell you what my mom said when I asked that question. “What’s the assurance that the police will give it to him?”. Well, this isn’t even why I won’t send it to the police and I’m sorry, I don’t have any reason. I just won’t.

Listen, let’s say I knew the money really was our taxes and there were tangible things being done in my country from the tax we pay, I think I would have returned it. But knowing how my country is, I’m not doing that. Somewhere last year, a politician accused her house help of stealing so much money from her house which raised so many concerns.

The police eventually searched her house and the amount of money they found was mind blowing. $590000 and Ghs2.73 million. Yes! Imagine a politician having that kind of money in her house and reporting her house help for stealing something small from it when she couldn’t even tell us where she got that kind of money.

You can’t tell me to return this money back to this person. Even Dr Kwame Nkrumah would be so disappointed in me and probably lash me in my dreams. For those who don’t know who Nkrumah is, he led Ghana to gain independence.

I just realized I still haven’t even figured out what I’ll do with the money but I know more than half will go to my mom and family. But honestly, even if I don’t end up keeping the money, one thing I know for sure is that money won’t return back to that politician. The right thing to do when you find any money that belongs to anyone is to return it, but when it comes to a politician, especially the corrupt ones, the situation totally changes.

The intro was funny.
From all the posts I've read, most people are not returning the money o 😂

😂😂😂 I’m probably their leader

This is literally the same thing i said. This people are actually very cruel and they probably got that money by stealing from the countries budget so why should i now make the decision to return that particular briefcase to them.

That’s what my mom said🤣🤣

She is very correct 🤣🤣

The beginning of this post is really funny.
But to be sincere, why return money that was stolen from poor masses, the best I would do to clear my conscience is give a certain percentage to less privilege children and pay some hospital bills in public hospitals.

For you to even think of giving to the poor, that’s not clearing your conscience. You’re kind.
