When you step into the halls of university, it's very easy to think about reading only books and focusing on your study, trying to pass all your exams and walking away with flying colours.
And it is important to read books. Getting an education is very important. It sharpens your mind, it opens your thinking and exposes you. But there's a little secret that I've learned and I want to share with you.
School isn't just about what you always learn in class. It's about the people you meet along the way, the friendship that you build, the connections that you build. All those things can really change your life for good and shape your future in ways that your book can never.
Have you come to think about it?
Your degree might get you a foot close to the door, but it is the relationship and connection that you have nurtured that will keep you moving forward. That your classmates that you helped tricky problem or you supported where he or she was passing through some challenges.
They might be the one that might be introducing you to your first big job ever after school. That friend you just sent an invitation to your birthday, they could be the one to connect you to who changes the nature of your career for good.
School is like a very big, like a little magic trick. When you go to school, you're not just running around talking of where you see a lot of potentials around, and you need to know how to tap into these potentials before you are out.
So don't just bury your nose on your book only. Get in circulation and make yourself known to others. Being a good friend a classmate who will talk to you. love to help. It doesn't mean you have to be everyone's best friend or you have to overstretch yourself just to please others. But it's about showing up and being
authentic to yourself and others.
Offer a hand when someone is struggling and if you can help. It might be an assignment or just a piece of advice or guidance through life. You can say yes to that invite, to that study group or just a normal party or you two can just host a little get-together where you people just share and connect with each other in your own.
All this moment is what builds trust and you never know. Trust me, people remember all these things when they feel among and included. Those connections always stick even after they graduate from the school.
So when you leave your school, the world doesn't care much about your grades or your CGP or GPA. What matters is who you know and where you have built those relationships with them. That person that might be hiring you might be someone that has collaborated with someone that you know in school.
Or that person that wants to invest in your idea might also be someone that you met through your friend or it might just be just be a friend of a friend recommending you remember what opportunities and success they all flow together.
Networking, not just having the knowledge. Your degree is not enough, but degree with a connection, it can be a powerful tool that can make things up for you easily.
As you navigate through school, don't just chase only grades, chase that quality relationship be kind to others be helpful and be open to meeting new people and tell the reverse here a laugh try to lend help these moments of connection. They are not just fun the investment in your future maybe it's from now.
You might be thriving in ways you never imagine and when you look back you're like that's you and you'll be happy that you made this connection that you make.
Go to school get, updates and don't forget to connect, your future is in your hands.
