RE: Ope’s Path To Failure.

in The Ink Well9 months ago

It's incredibly sad when children's struggles are ignored or their poor behaviour excused. Parents have a responsibility to keep their children on track with guidance and love, and sometimes that means tough love. Your story line was appropriate for the prompt although it would have been better if you had edited your submission. If you reread it or put it through Grammarly or Google Docs you will discover several instances of spelling mistakes, and issues with grammar and punctuation. This can act as a distraction to your reader. You will also notice repetition in the progression of this piece which if eliminated would provide for a tighter construction and improved flow. Your story just hits the 750 word minimum count and this lends itself to being underdeveloped. Take a look at the following Show, Don't Tell resource in The Ink Well and Developing Memorable Characters and try to practise these skills in your next piece. We hope to see you practising the skill sets contained in the Ink Well resources and growing your craft week on week.
