Fast-forward to two days ago, he called me and went, “I know you are angry at me, but you need to stop shutting other people up with their opinions.”
The gall with that man! Of 'course, it's just natural to shut out people whom you consider not worthy of your attention. It's your life, and the fact that he reached out only to just put the blame back on you, well, that just proved that he indeed meant what he said to you (and isn't just a general statement). It's a good thing that you stand on your ground because, yes, respect and attention should only be given to those who deserve it. You are not obliged to accommodate all their opinions just because they think you're wrong. It's also a big no-no when he embarrasses you publicly, given that he was there when your having a hard time in finding your job. So much for that—thanks for sharing such a moving narrative, @bipolar95!
May that friend of yours realize the true value of respect. Good day!
