Unexpected bond

If anyone told me that Ada and I will ever become friends in this life, I would have shut that person right up. Ada was my worse nightmare and I didn't imagine embracing my own nightmare.

It all started when were in primary 6, we were given a project to do for our upcoming graduation, my teacher appointed the both of us to lead the group and instead of cooperating with each, we ended up fighting each other, and sometimes we could end up not doing anything because each of us wants our opinion to come first.

From that day on we could not stand each other, we don't even cross paths with each other, whenever I see her or she sees me , we would turn and follow another path.

We would fight over small issue and even when she does something right like answering questions in the class and even winning a competition for our school, I will always say it was wrong and it was a partial judgement, even though I wanted our school to win but because she was representing our School, I would always say that the judges were wrong with their judgement.

One day, news got to our school that there will be a inter-house competition for all the school in our state.

I was chosen to represent our school and that made ada very angry "why didn't they just choose someone else, she's such a big failure and I'm sure she'll only bring shame to the school" said Ada

I went for the competition and came back with second position, everyone was happy for me except for Ada but who cares, when I saw her face, I went to her and whispered in her ear "You can go to hell for all I care".

Immediately I said that she pushed me to the floor and we started fighting until everyone surrounded us and began to separate us.

We both got ourselves suspended by the school authorities for one week and when we returned as always we did something worse to each and if not for our parents intervention we would have been expelled from the school.

This was going on even up to our senior secondary school period.

Then came WAEC exam!

My parents didn't want me to fail the exam so they paid for the extra tutorial class for me, but to my surprise I saw Ada there too. "Oh this is a nightmare!" I exclaimed!

I was so angry that I had to leave the class and go back home. But I knew I can't run away forever because I have already paid the class completely and my parents will not allow me to quit for such a petty reason and they wouldn't pay for a new tutoring program either. I didn't have choice than to study in the same center with her.

Then one day, our teacher was paring student together and ended up pairing the both of us together, I was so angry that I even beg the teacher to pair me with another person but she declined my request.
We only talk to each whenever we want correct each other but in a harsh way.

Then something happened

One day after our chemistry practical, I sat down very tired because I was struggling with the calculation and then surprisingly she walked up to me and offered me cold water and said "You didn't get the answers correctly during the lesson, do you want me to help you?"

"You want to teach me" I said really shocked

"Yeah, do you think I would want my study partner to fail?" she said smiling

Deep down I knew I was tired of all the trouble and wanted to give peace a try.
We both laughed together, then we apologized to each other for all those years of being sworn enemies.

We became best friends ever since then and we did everything together.

People were shocked seeing us together including our school mate, class mate, teacher and even parents.

When it was time for the exams, we were both so excited because we knew we were fully prepared for it. We both walked together everyday to the exam hall and encouraged each other where necessary.

We would go home together, laugh over funny and difficult questions that was set in the paper. We became inseparable, even till after our final year exam in secondary school. After the exams ended we celebrated together.

Sometimes I do wonder why we were even fighting in the first place, Ada is such a sweet soul, and I guess we both judged each other before getting to know ourselves. It was indeed an unexpected bond of friendship, but I'm thankful that it turned out that way.

Your story touched my heart. Glad to hear that both of you are now best of friends

Good thing you 2 were able to reconcile and make peace. That's what matters ☺️

It is not good to judge people before getting close to them.
Nice story!👏👏👏

I can relate to your story. One of my childhood friends was once my enemy, like we were two parallel lines that never meet. But we turned out to be best of friends.

Great post 👍. Thanks for sharing.

Wow what an unexpected bound indeed. I really enjoyed your story that why some time is not good to judge a book by its cover. But I thank God both of you came and reconcile and become best of friends.
