Weekend-Engagement WEEK #256: A life without sugar? is it possible?

From my morning coffee to my 3:00pm snack, sugar has always been present in my life. But can I ever consider giving it up for good?

From a medical point of view, excess sugar (especially refined sugar) increases the probability of suffering from metabolic diseases such as obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, dyslipidemia (increased triglycerides and cholesterol), cardiovascular diseases, alteration of our body's microbiota and skin aging. These diseases are a daily occurrence in my general practice.

I will not lie to you, giving up sugar in a drastic way is a difficult decision, personally I have done it in a progressive way, this way it has worked for me and not only to lose weight, but to improve my health in general.

Although I do not consider myself a person who has a high consumption of refined sugars, last month I got sick and I had to adjust my sugar doses. There is nothing more true than that we start to watch what we eat when our body takes a toll on us, which it shouldn't be.

So, if you are thinking of giving up sugar for your health, I recommend you do it progressively. You can start by replacing it with a Stevia-based sweetener. Nowadays I drink my coffee without sugar, my me of a few years ago would not believe it, I hated coffee without sugar. So yes, for my overall health and physical well being I could give up sugar for good and you?

Yes, it hard to give up on sugar, but I agree with you, we can do it progressively, and before we realized it, we will find ourselves, limiting sugar intake. Good morning, have a splendid weekend.
