Who would have thought that a Sunday's visit to a Butterfly Garden would bring us magic, learning, and unforgettable joy?
Another Sunday, Another fun day! It’s usually Sunday that we take our kids out as this is the only time that my husband and I are free of work. Last Sunday, March 9, we decided to take our kids to Kinoy's Butterfly Garden where we know they would have a great time and learn a lot!
This weekend getaway turned out to be one of the best weekends we've had this past month. When we reached the place and went inside, they had a dome that was covered with net. We had to wait outside for a quick orientation of do's and don’ts before they let us inside the dome.
Getting inside felt like we had stepped into a fairy tale. We were greeted by the green, beautiful, well-kept atmosphere full of bright flowers and plants. The most attractive thing about it was that hundreds of butterflies danced up in the air, which immediately caught our attention.
My husband and I, especially the kids, were so excited to proceed where butterflies are allowed to be held. We were all hoping a butterfly would land on our hands. As we moved along, we saw butterflies at every stage of their lives. And it was amazing since we usually just see this in books or videos. The staff told us about how these amazing little creatures grow from tiny eggs to moving caterpillars, then into chrysalises, and finally come out as beautiful, delicate butterflies.
One of the best parts of the tour was feeding the butterflies. The staff gave us sliced banana and it’s up to us if we want it squished or just leave as it is. Observing other guests, we squished a few slices of bananas into our hands, so we could attract butterflies to land into us.
And yay! Success! It was so amazing to see them up close while wearing this DIY crown with hints of banana. It hits different the moment they opened their wings and the patterns and colors on them were even more beautiful up close.
My kids were so charmed as well when butterflies landed on their hands and noses, giving them a little tickle.
Inside the dome, we were only allowed to stay for an hour. We didn’t actually finish the entire hour since we also had a movie reservation and we still need to have our dinner somewhere else.
As we left the sanctuary, our hearts were full and so were our minds. Until next weekend!
