Last Sunday, my friends and I who are also studying at the Rumi Learning Park participated in celebrating National Education Day from May 2 to 14 by holding a painting exhibition and book bazaar.
The paintings were the work of several friends whose talents tended towards painting. To hold this painting exhibition and book bazaar, my friends and I prepared for 6 days, starting from Monday the 5th to Saturday the 10th.
The paintings by our friends also varied. Some focused on painting Arabic calligraphy, some painted sketches of religious figures, some enjoyed painting nature and batik motif paintings. In the preparation process, my friends and I painted using sketchbooks and crayons. For the frames, we used items available at home, namely used TV wrappers and fruit wrappers.
As for the book bazaar, we used all the books in the small library owned by one of our teachers at the Rumi Learning Park. The books we displayed included literary genre books, collections of short stories, poetry collections, novels, non-fiction books and religious books.
Although most people in my village have little interest or even do not appreciate painting and books, for me last Sunday was a very happy and enthusiastic weekend. Because my friends and I felt that our talents had been channeled and could be displayed to a large audience.
Our hope and goal in displaying a painting exhibition and book bazaar in commemoration of Education Day is none other than the vision and mission of the Rumi Learning Park, which is to develop artistic talent and literacy as well as reading interest.
Hopefully in the future the generations in my village will have an awareness of the importance of literacy and art in life. Greetings from us, the children of Taman Belajar Rumi Indonesia, to all our friends at the hive.
