As the weather starts getting warmer, it is inevitable that @mrsbozz and I find ourselves in one of two places. We are either at a campsite somewhere with our travel trailer, or we are at a softball field somewhere watching our nieces play softball. With our oldest niece hanging up her glove until she decides to start coaching, and her sister heading off to university next year, those days at the field are going to be fewer and fewer.
In fact, this might be the last summer that we watch travel ball for a while. At least until our youngest niece or our great niece starts playing at that level.
We took a half day this past Friday and made the four hour drive from Michigan down to Ohio to catch a Friday night make up game that was rescheduled because of a rain out.

It was a really good game that ended up being a nice win for the ladies. I will be writing more about it in my @bozz.sports blog if you want to keep an eye out for that. Although we spent a lot of our time at the softball fields, it was still a pretty great weekend with my inlaws. It was extra special due to that fact that my oldest niece would soon be celebrating her first mother's day. It's hard to believe that the latest little miracle in our family is almost six months old now. It seems like it was just the other day that we got the call saying she was here.

I am obviously a bit biased, but she is just about the best. Everything about her amazes me and as I have said in the past, she absolutely melts me. Even when she is a bit fussy, she is the sweetest thing. I can't wait to watch her grow up and become just as awesome as her mom and aunt.
She's at that phase where pretty much everything goes in her mouth, even her feet!

Saturday we only had two softball games on the schedule, but it ended up taking most of the day. It was a charity event hosted by one of the other high schools in the district where my niece attends and both her parents work. I think they were raising money for cancer research or something like that, but I don't quite know for sure.
They had a couple of baskets full of different things on display for a silent auction. If you aren't familiar with a silent auction, they just set down a piece of paper and you write down your bid. People keep writing down their increase bid, and by the time they close the auction, the person with the highest bid won.
I have seen these before many times, but I don't think I have ever participated in one before. You have to be pretty crafty and sly to actually win one of them.

For example, there was a "father's day" basket that had a bunch of grilling stuff in it as well as an nice bottle of whiskey. I'm not going to tell you the whole story until a later post, but it turns out I ended up being the winning bidder for the basket. I got to take all of these goodies you see above home.

As I said above, the two games took a while to play and it ended up being a five hour day out in the sun. It wasn't super hot out, but there wasn't much of a breeze and not a single cloud in the sky. Even with the temperature only being in the mid 70's, the sun was pretty hot beating down on you.

In fact, I apparently missed a couple places with the sun screen and as you can see above, I got a little burnt. It is still hurting today. I will have to be more aware next time of getting my upper forearm as I missed the same spot on both arms!

After the games, we made the four hour drive home and pulled into our driveway just after 9 PM at night. Sunday I got up and went to my parents to spend some time with my mom for mother's day. Then I came home and mowed the lawn before firing up the grill and throwing some Nashville Hot style chicken on for @mrsbozz and I.
It was a busy, but fun weekend. I was thinking about it last night and I think pretty much every weekend in May we have something going on. We don't get a break until the first week of June.
I have a feeling time is going to fly faster than ever this summer!
