WEEKEND ENGAGEMENT TOPICS 279/
A Relaxing Weekend

Hello, fellow weekend readers. How are you doing? I'm resting. I had a really busy week. I had to prepare and give two writing workshops, one in person, on Creative Writing, and another online, on Poetry. I was reviewing the final version of a book that is in the process of being published with my partner. I was a guest on a radio program in a nearby town, Salobreña. I traveled to another city to meet up with a group of Buddhist friends with whom I like to meditate.

If you ask me whether I prefer busy or relaxed weekends, believe me, I have no doubt about what my answer will be. For that reason, I have chosen the following topic for weekend-engagement:
Busy weekends on the go, or quiet and relaxing weekends - Which do you prefer and why?

Most people, when we are no longer young, as is my case, have to slow down the pace of our activities. Basically, because our bodies no longer have the same stamina they had in our youth. We get tired if we have a very hectic pace or are exposed to a lot of stress. As I said at the beginning of this article, this week was very hectic for me, I had a lot of activities and little rest. Today, for example, I got up late, had a leisurely breakfast, and then went for a walk on the beach.
Until a few months ago, I lived in a big city, Caracas, the capital of my country, with a lot of noise and many problems. Now I live in a small beach town on the southern coast of Spain. I prefer this quieter life. Even on weeks when I have fewer activities, on weekends I am usually at home, writing, reading, watching movies or television series with my partner. I no longer enjoy going to noisy places, drinking alcohol, or dancing.

This weekend, I walked along the beach, took the dog for a walk, read Dan Brown's new novel, “The Last Secret”, and watched some movies. Now I prefer a healthier and quieter life. Sometimes I miss my friends and sisters. But I don't miss the hectic life I had when I was younger. I prefer a healthier lifestyle for myself. Perhaps because I know I have less time ahead of me than I have behind me, and I want to enjoy it. I feel like the days and weeks are passing very quickly and that every moment counts, every moment is important.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed a happy weekend. Greetings from Andalusia, Spain.
