RE: Homecoming

Glad that camping season is right around the corner for you.. I know you enjoy it immensely. I can almost smell the smoke! I found in life a lot of frustration and regret can be thwarted with a little inspection and prep. Don't cut corners! Growing up working on a farm I learned a lot about checking things over before sprinting off and using them. GOOD idea to do your spring inspections on that trailer. Now go "Find The Fun"!

Thanks, we already have about seven trips planned for the summer. My dad always used to have me help him do the bearings on the trailer, so I just kept doing it when we bought one. Lot's of people just blindly use the EZ Lube knobs these days on the zergs or whatever they are called. I like tearing it apart so I can actually get eyes on the bearing to see if there is unusual wear.

Good Idea. Looks like a lighter trailer, but trailers wear funny just because nothing is precisely perfect. Weight distribution is a factor too. Around here it is almost a must due to the salt water and fine sand.. marine or boat trailers are even worse. I can still remember the smell of the grease (not to mention the mess) and worse yet I can't ever remember wearing any gloves as a kid packing bearings. I'm not sure they even existed when we were kids? God only knows what we absorbed into our skin as kids.

I still don't wear gloves. They just rip or get in the way and end up being more trouble than they are worth. I think our trailer is about 6000 pounds unloaded. Something like that. Actually, it might be closer to 6800 now that I think of it.
