Humanoid bots are the rage right now and for good reason. They offer a lot of potential since society is set up for humans.
In this video I discuss how they will be deployed even though we will not see them. Since commercial applications, i.e. factories, are the first use case, they will be in operation and most of us will not notice.

I think until we can get AGI, we won't be seeing humanoid robots in public. I think there were a few trial bots shown for publicity stunts, but they're not common. I can see factories as the first environment because it is safer, and it can be a controlled environment.
It is easier to focus upon commerce since there is the instant cost-benefit analysis that can take place.
Personal bots require a payout, thus harder to justify.
