So far, the Cybertruck was operating on a negative profit margin. This is common with new lines until the ramp is to the point of profitability.
In this video I discuss how some did a dive and areprojecting a few points profit margin on the Cybertruck in Q3. It will still be an overall drain on automotive margins since it is below the total. It might not add to the margin until Q1 of next year.

I think they need to improve the quality of the cybertruck to increase sales. The design is polarizing, with people either liking it or hating it. The quality of the build though is a bit different. I have seen a good amount of complaints on a lot of problems that owners have had on the cybertruck. The tow hitch coming off, panels also coming off, and the automatic trunk not being sensitive enough for fingers to name a few.
