Is Elon Musk a distraction for Tesla?

Some are starting to make that accusation.

I think Elon is a distraction. But there are arguments on whether it is good or bad for the company. I think the saying "bad publicity is still publicity" works here. It gets a lot of eyes on his companies, and as long as his companies are delivering and getting results, then I think they benefit from it.

Trump is the epitome of the idea there is no bad publicity.

Watching that guy for 40 years it is still amazing.

He was the true first reality star, living in the media long before OJ and whatever stuff Hollywood conjured up.

There isn't any dull moment, I'll give him that. I remember him from the Apprentice, and he even appeared in WWE. It's crazy.

Elon Musk, the self-declared Technoking of Tesla, is undeniably synonymous with the electric car company. Love him or be baffled by him, Musk is both the face of Tesla and the driving force behind its success. However, Tesla being a publicly traded company, no single individual is supposed to wield unchecked control. This brings us to a crucial question: Does Elon Musk control Tesla? The answer, as silly as it may seem, is yes. The recent Delaware court decision confirmed Musk’s dominance over the company, leading to the rejection of his $55 billion compensation package. The judge raised concerns about his influence and ordered Tesla to devise a new compensation plan.

While reports of Musk partying and engaging in drug use with Tesla board members may make investors uncomfortable, they ultimately serve as a distraction from deeper execution issues at the company. Long-time Tesla shareholder Ross Gerber points out that Musk’s reported drug use is just the tip of the iceberg; the real focus should be on addressing fundamental operational challenges.
