China is at the center of the battery revolution. It is a country that has taken control of the supply chain. It appears most of the Western companies do not have any urgency in this matter.
In this video I discuss how Tesla is starting to establish an alternative supply chain outside China. This is a defense against both deteriorating US-China relations and also the Chinese gov't leveraging its position against the company.

This is a good move from Tesla. Not only because competition is almost always good, but protecting themselves against the possible monopoly of China is advantageous. I do hope they can keep costs low, since it will be difficult to compete with China's low labor costs.
It appears with the moronic leadership the US has (or will have), the path is for a major fight with China.
The US still thinks it is the only player on the world stage. That is a mistake. I cite the automotive industry as example 1 but it is far from it.
