We are entering the age of robotics and no industry is better suited for that than the automotive industry.
This sector deal with high ticket items that sees increasing labor costs. It is also primed to replace many of the jobs since they are repetitive and dangerous.

I think I've seen glimpses of it already. Some companies have shown humanoid robots doing manual labor. Some were used for inspection, while others for moving heavy objects. Factories running for 24/7 is the dream for most owners. If it comes with increased productivity, safety, and less wages, then they will immediately jump at the first availability.
This is bad news for human workers hoping to get hold of their jobs because of automation they are loosing jobs in abundance.
