OpenAI is on path to lose $5B this year. It is going through about $7B in training and $1.5B in staff.
In this video I discuss the different players and how they are faring in the AI race. The monetization is crucial since the cash burn is huge. OpenAI is not unique in this situation. The difference is most of the others are large organizations.

I'm not saying I'm too surprised. I saw the lawsuits, and there was a hint of desperation when they wanted AI to be available to only a few companies. They don't have a lot of data sources, and will probably need to buy/steal them. They have a lot of demo and products already out, but they don't bring a lot of profits. Having a lot of competition, and the availability of free options doesn't help them either. If they can release a finished AI video software, I can see them partnering with a lot of studios. I don't expect them to go bankrupt, there are a lot of companies that will readily buy them and enter the AI race.
We have to open things up. It is imperative that we add more data for these models to train upon. The internet is being locked down.
I feel bad for OpenAI, though potential exist for it's specifications but they have to survive till then and competition might even lower the sell price as you stated which is true, they are basically trained with somewhat the same source. So I hope they survive the rat race of debt not to go into bankruptcy, I think they should take a plan, wouldn't that aid ?
