Every day technology keeps getting bigger, and we're also trying to catch up with it. It looks good and promising but then there's nothing with benefits that doesn't have it's disadvantages as well.
Technology has helped us in a lot of ways, virtually in all areas of life, in terms of communication, education and so on, but then there's another kind of technology that seems to be taking over now, it's called Artificial intelligence, it's the ability of a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to perform tasks commonly associated with human beings.
With artificial intelligence a system or a robot can do what human being can do, we can now Interact with it and versa, an example is Meta AI on WhatsApp, it's way different from Google which is a search engine, with AI you can do more, such as asking questions and then getting reply just like you're communicating with human being, it's sound good right, almost all the information we need at our finger tips.
Few days ago, my younger brother wanted to do some assignment in school, it was mathematics and I don't even have any idea, of course I can't ask Google, so I just used AI directly and it was solved in no time. There was a time I was curious about the authenticity of a tapping project called Tapswap, so I asked AI, and I was given the following reply;
I did my research as instructed and I was able to know to some extent if it's really a promising project or not. Building this kinds of system or robot is not an easy task at all, it requires a high level of intelligence and we should appreciate that at least. Also there are some AI editing apps now that helps one to create or design a good picture, even without going to a studio, you can get a good picture with the help of AI, I also play with some of this apps some time ago and I'm using one of the pictures I created till date, my background picture on this blockchain is an AI generated picture. So to some extent I've also benefited from AI.
Anyways, like I said earlier that there's nothing that has advantages that won't have one or more disadvantages, AI also has its and I'll be listing some below.
AI is gradually taking people's jobs or I should say it has taken some people's job already. Sometime ago when we need to make graphics, if the person that needs it doesn't have experience in that field, they have to look for a graphics designer to get the job done. Now there are different websites that has a lot of ready made template, all you need to do is go there and edit those template to your taste, thereby rendering some graphics designers jobless.
In addition, it's also creating a kind of laziness, there was an update on peakD sometime ago that helps you summarize a post without reading it, it will show all the keypoints, I'm not in anyway trying to talk down on this updates but just saying they also have their disadvantages, which is normal.
I've also seen a robot that's attending to customers in a restaurant, that's amazing right... imagine a robot come to you and ask for what you like to have and then bring to you your exact order, it's really amazing but then some people will surely be affected because it's taking their place, gradually creating some kind of unemployment.
Nevertheless, AI has come already and I don't think we can eradicate or eliminate it, we don't have a choice than to embrace it's advantages but also try as much as possible to reduce its demerit.
