Data as the new oil is an idea that remains strange to many. To keep the analogy, is it appropriate to compare that by adding more data, users are now the new "oil miners"?

        A more accurate analofy is the users adding more data are increasing the size of the well that others can tap into. Hence, the value of the "well" increases as more data is applied.
