Here’s a set of memorable quotes from the movie Rambo: First Blood Part II:
John Rambo: "Mission accomplished. You know there's more men out there and you know where they are. Find 'em. Or I'll find you."
Colonel Trautman: "I'm sorry they sent you to such a hellhole."
Murdock: "This mission is over, Rambo! Do you understand me? This mission is over!"
Rambo: "Murdock... I'm coming for you."
Co Bao: "Rambo, you not expendable."
John Rambo: "To survive a war, you gotta become war."
John Rambo: "I'm coming to get you."
Colonel Trautman: "What you choose to call hell, he calls home."
Co Bao: "Rambo, you have a mission to complete."
The Vietnam war is over however John Rambo is approached by Colonel Trautman who is serving jail time for his crimes to go on a mission to Vietnam once again in order to take photographic evidence of United States Of America prisoners of war as Vietnam has held some POWs from the old war. John Rambo played once again by Sylvester Stallone agrees to Colonel Trautman and decides to go on this mission because he is a true American patriot and has served for the U.S army before too collecting countless medals for his active duty.
John Rambo's commanding officer is however not Colonel Trautman but is Murdock who is played by Charles Napier and he specifically asks John Rambo that his mission is only to take Photographs of the prisoners of war of American soldiers being held in Vietnam that is it so he does not have to cause a scene or do any rescuing what so ever because Murdock fears for backlash and he does not want to potentially start another war with Vietnam because the U.S and Vietnam are under a peace treaty now.
Vietnam is still under communist imperialism and we see the Vietnamese soldiers accompanied by Soviet army officials in this movie. John Rambo after arriving in Vietnam somehow fails to properly launch his parachute but he survives however in the process loses his guns and has to fight off with a bow and arrow additionally his combat knife as well.
We see John Rambo partner with a local Vietnamese girl named Co played by Julia Nickson and they go out to get these photographs of American POWs. Now things go out of hand and John Rambo makes not only a scene but also rescues some POWs who are about to be killed so when he reports this to his superior officer Murdock he is told that his mission has failed because he was told not to engage with the Vietnamese in a hostile manner hence not sending the rescue chopper after him.
John Rambo is held as a prisoner however he finds an opening and escapes successfully. But now John Rambo is encountered with a situation where he and the American POW are on their own really so they need to escape Vietnam to go to the American remote base somehow. John Rambo is hit with a calamity though that his newly found love interest and partner in the mission Co is murdered by the Vietnamese soldiers.
John Rambo becomes sort of like a Chuck Norris from the memes and starts an all out war against the Vietnamese soldiers and their Soviet friends. We see John Rambo killing over 75 people inside two days and then somehow he manages to find a Russian chopper with an epic battle scene at the end with a bigger Russian helicopter. We see John Rambo succeeding in his quest to rescue some American POWs and arriving at the remote American base and confronting Murdock about it. John Rambo is really angry at Murdock and starts firing his massive machine gun inside the office but then just like in First Blood Part 1 again Colonel Trautman calms him down so eventually John Rambo does not kill Murdock.
Now my only issue with this movie is that the writers decided to cut away the important plot point from the first movie that John Rambo is suffering from severe PTSD because at least in this movie he is way more vocal and communicates quite clearly. There are no signs shown in this movie that John Rambo is suffering from PTSD. The main plot point in this movie is that why Murdock has no sympathy for the American POWs and why he did not send a rescue helicopter to John Rambo and the American POWs.
We see ten times more action scenes in this movie which includes explosions, hand to hand fight scenes, gun combat, boats action and even helicopter battles as well. John Rambo uses explosives tied to his arrows so those scenes are great to view. This movie is directed by George P. Cosmatos who also later on directs Sylvester Stallone's Cobra movie as well. Jerry Goldsmith is once again responsible for the music composition of the movie.
This movie had some political aspects to it because back then the American war against Vietnam was over but this movie depicts Vietnam as a hostile country towards the U.S.A as they treat their American POWs very harshly hence it got a lot of criticisms because America did not want to have a bad personal relationship with Vietnam any more as they had signed a peace treaty with them. Rambo: First Blood Part 2 is a memorable and classic action movie and became more popular than the first one. I will give it a solid 8 out of 10 and would consider it a classic movie from the 80s which deserves a rewatch if you have already watched it just for the nostalgia factor.
