Why the electric cars will not take off!

Too expensive

I saw this advertisement for the new all electric Mercedes GLC. And saw that it had an official range of 713 km on a full battery. I was quite interested in the price, as the range is finally at an interesting number.

But then reality hit in, the car costs at least 80000 EUR, which is incredible. The diesel version was available 4 years ago for 45000 EUR. That is just a huge difference for in reality the same car, just a different engine.

The cars are just too expensive, it’s as simple as that!

I think the EV companies can do better. Most of them collect a form of subsidy from the government. They even sell carbon credits, I now wonder why they overpriced their vehicles.

In Q4 2024, Tesla made $692million from carbon credits alone. That tells you what these guys are making
