Unfair

We all know the house always wins, right, but in this case the house also prosecuted a winning player, and got him jailed for five years! It is a crazy story but one that is very scary, because a lot of people do what this guy did.

Jon Howard, is a winning sports bettor, and he played at BET365, a British casino. But he had over a 1000 accounts at the casino, which he used to place different bets at different accounts, to collect bonuses. And not to get banned. Because winning accounts get restricted very fast at BET365, and he knew that. So he spread his bets over his different accounts, so he wouldn't get restricted.

But he got caught, because of the bank he used for the transactions to and from the casino. Banco Santander, the Spanish bank, saw that the bank accounts linked to the 1000 plus player accounts all belonged to one person called, Jon Howard. But the player accounts had different names, of family members and friends of him.
So, they sued him for fraud. And they won the case. Even though he actually did what a lot of people do, but then on a larger scale.

He has to pay back the 236000 British Pounds he won and collected, and he was jailed for 5 years. A punishment that is over the top, if you ask me, and sounds very unfair...

Sincerely,

Why the wining accounts get restricted ? Maybe he's doing something else (which is a crime) with these accounts

This is not unlike saying you should play by the rules while I do whatever I want to win even if it's beyond the said rules. The punishment is definitely harsh and probably unwarranted.
