I remember reading that for Hollywood movies to do well in China, they usually have to do a lot of things, like hire a Chinese actor/actress in a major role, shoot a lot of scenes in China, and depict China in a good light. I don't think they did any or all of those, so that can explain their not so spectacular showing there. But I do think that Hollywood has been having a lot of problems with their movies and shows as of late.
