I have been attempting to expand my curation list of Hive content creators for a while now, but it is been challenging. About 24 users were on my autovote on hive.vote when I checked them yesterday, deleted two accounts, and balanced it.
I gave auto votes primarily to make curation easier and to ensure that my vote weight never reaches 100%, which would result in a significant loss of curation reward. I do not like auto, though, so I go back to it frequently and occasionally make adjustments.
Sometimes, in an attempt to allow for more manual curation, I tried to lower the percentage of vote weight I distributed, but in those cases, my voting power actually decreased. I typically curate in the morning, at which point I have roughly 75% of my voting power.
My auto is still on, so it will be challenging for me to ever reach 100%. After that, I leave it to regenerate for a full day. I will generally reach 100% even without my auto, though, if I skip three days of manual Curation. For instance, the last time I had 100 votes was when I traveled a great distance to a place without a network (this was in May)
It is that easy: I need to balance it out because I do not have enough Hive power to support both manual and automatic curation.
Sadly, this means I can not curate the way I want to. My total vote is 0.74$ with Hive at 19 cents, and the current is roughly 0.5$. It is challenging for me to give any account my highest vote because of my ongoing curation because it never stays at 100%.
I may have stopped curating for the day, but I always start over when I come across content that needs to be upvoted because I am a sentimental curator, which means I do not follow any rules. I therefore have a tendency to curate as soon as I am active because, let us face it, what good is consuming if you do not also curate?
For me, curation can only improve if Hive's value increases by, say, thirty to fifty cents. It implies that I can cast a vote with a higher weight while casting a smaller percentage. In the absence of that, I am forced to decide between voting quality and frequently. If I select option A, my vote weight would be less significant; if I select option B, my vote weight will be greater but I will only be able to cast it once.
For instance, I will only be able to curate an account for 3.5 days instead of seven, but the vote value will increase.
Curation Rewards
The Hive curation reward is not to be taken lightly; rather, it should be taken seriously. For this reason, the objective of your voting power should be "no 100%." Even though it might appear insignificant at first, over time it adds up.
I just do not have enough, so my only choice is to cut back on my curation frequency and give it time to heal. Although there is not a workable solution at this time, I should probably stop voting with this account for two full days, if not sooner. I am hoping to find a way to avoid curation altogether, such as a network outage.
There is no denying that things improve when Hive's price eventually starts to rise without falling too far. Although October has not been the October we were hoping for, the market has been in a crab walk since the beginning of the month. Regardless of your stake, you need to start taking curation seriously.
