One doesn't ever really get away with anything bad. We're foremost hunted by our conscience that continues to question us about the quality and nature of decisions we have made. Even when it seems like some people have rather silenced their conscience to the point where it no longer pricks them, there is the law of nature that hands out consequences for actions we choose to take.
When an incident affects people around as a result of a bad decision by one person, it is something that is of course noted. The pain and cost of a terrible decision is something the stakeholders feel long after the heat of the moment. It is something that leaves behind battle scars and maybe even more depending on the severity of the situation in question.
Beyond a total collapse, there is also the case of having to figure out a pathway to move on. It is difficult to forgive betrayal, as I've learned first hand. Even when forgiveness is in play, moving on might be impossible without some form of justice being served. Time does heal wounds, but they do remain painful for a considerable length.
That said, my furry towards betrayal has also made me realize the need to celebrate those who consistently deliver. Being consistently dependable is far from easy and is something that far too often we take for granted. To everyone who's been that way in my life I will try and display more gratitude going forward.
