I had a conversation with a colleague in the department I supervise who just got a better offer from another company and called to ask for my input if she should take the offer or not. In conversation I discovered that her mind was at least 80 Percent made up, but she perhaps needed that 20 percent assurance cover from people she trusts.
Her major concern about the offer is the fact that it involves relocating. That comes with accomodation stress as well as trying to adapt to a new environment. She likened it to starting afresh and was a bit worried about the impact it will have on her.
Another thing is the pay isn't so great, just a small increase from her current pay, but it is a full time position with lots of growth prospects and less stress compared to her current role. It is one that she would definitely save up time and energy and work towards better even if the current role doesn't work, which I see no reason why it won't.
The job itself isn't bad considering it is a supervisory role at a major supermarket chain here. It has prospects for growth and perhaps learning the rope. She stated her business aspirations and how she relishes the opportunity to be exposed to the World of supply and logistics from her new role.
All things considering, we couldn't see why such an opportunity should not be taken. No matter the uncertainty I believe It is better to take the chance than regret not doing anything at all.
