Is any company deserving of our loyalty? I mean this in the sense that should we continue to remain in one company for an extended period of time. I've talked about this before, but assuming all the factors were right, and companies themselves displayed a sense of loyalty to competent staff that have stayed put, would such longevity make sense?
There are pros and cons I'd consider, but to be honest before last year I had been the 'stay-put' kind of person. As a matter of fact, under the right circumstances I remain that kind of person. It is wonderful for instance to see an organisation grow over the years and know fully well that you contributed to that growth. Also, some relationships may become personal as the seasons go bye and different life experiences take precedence.
But moving on also has its advantages. Speaking personally now, I may complain about so many things I perceive wrong in my organisation, but truth be told I've grown from a personal perspective, and only because the movement happened. From a perspective of growth and ambition, perhaps grabbing opportunities as they come is the way to go about it.
But ambitions can be tricky. We all want growth but it's impatience that sometimes makes us jump ship fast. We also fail to consider things wholistically sometimes. The only thing am against us that any decision to move shouldn't be based on a purely monetary decision. There is so much to gain from being loyal yet so much that could potentially be lost.
