It isn't very common for us to receive part ownership offers from whatever projects we hold considerable interest in the value chain. As an employee at my company I am may hold stake because the company's health ensures I'm paid. However, I own no shares and the minute my employment relationship ends with the company, that would likely signify a complete dissolution of our relationship.
Compare it to a project like Hive where by virtue of the HP I own am a part shareholder. Our relationship extends far beyond my active participation of the platform. We often course want exponential growth to enable us reap the dividends of holding stake completely. My stake is even insignificant as of today. Yet the point is quite clear. It is a continuous relationship that doesn't cease because I stop participating actively on the platform.
It now begs the question of which one should be taken more seriously. I seem to give my current job my absolute all that leaves me completely exhausted at the end of the day. I have almost no desire for anything else, including my other passion projects at the side. Granted the job pays my current bills, but I certainly am not naive to think that a job I complain about everyday is a great long term asset.
I can't drop it (the job) now for obvious reasons, but perhaps a time will come when I might regret not focusing more on my passions. I'll of course rather be a shareholder than a mere employee, but having a seat at the table needs to be delicated weighed and aggressively pursued.
