Stable for Granted

I still maintain that am a pretty stable person. I hardly get overwhelmed or pressured to the extent that my state is altered. At least that was my story a few years ago, but in recent times it has been a slippery slope down the hole of distress. A trait I once took for granted has decided to alter the course of my actions for the last year or so.

I've had my butt kicked by certain challenges which were admittedly overwhelming. One of the rather humbling feelings of life is realising your own breaking point. I've certainly explored that road, and luckily have found a way to get back at every point in time. Recognizing the disruptors hasn't quite helped either. It isn't as simple as avoiding it. There are some challenges which must be confronted head on, even when we cannot win the immediate battles.

Having once experienced a relatively stable life for a good number of years, I won't mince words in stating that an overly complex life doesn't do much good. I take the simplicity of what stability offers anyday. While some choices might be self imposed, sometimes we don't have much of a choice. We can't simply crawl into our shells because we don't want life to get too complex or testing.

The biggest lesson I've learned though is perhaps not to voluntarily complicate things on my own. Sounds straightforward enough but there's something about us that seems to love the complications. Also, reflecting on what was is a great way to anticipate what could potentially be. Am making deliberate efforts to remove complexities from my life.
