Yes for the millionth time AI is coming for your jobs. I hear that far too often these days - at work, social media and even discussions with friends after work. Maybe am getting sick of being told it is inevitable. I mean if we are to be replaced and there's nothing I can do about it then I might as well start embracing it.
Before I do embrace AI wholeheartedly though, I am reminded that there is something that AI cannot particularly convey - genuine human connection. There are speakers we know of that really have nothing new to offer, yet we embrace them simply because of the human connection that they possess. Even with all the knowledge and efficiency in the World I do not believe (for now at least) that AI could ever replace that.
AI is making us lazy and probably impeding our abilities to critically reflect and provide original insight. More and more it is becoming a rare skill. Many don't even see the point of developing such skills when some high tech program could do it a lot better than we ever could.
Because many don't see the need, true human expression might become scarce - a market in itself. AI might be able to educate and motivate, but may never be able to effectively appeal to our core emotions. AI tools should assist us, but we must always remind ourselves at every point in time that they are our creation...and not the other way round.
