There are reasons people stick to tested and trusted options over a new face. It is because there is almost a guarantee of what to expect so we don't set the bar either too high or too low. Stability has been a big part of our existence as humans beings, and it begs to reason that we make choices that don't compromise that sense of stability, especially when it makes the future even a bit predictable.

Few will admit it, but we love the certainty of the sun rising and setting. We love the fact that as seasons change the same every year we can easily adapt and adjust. You might say that it is a bit boring to have things so predictable, but at the very least the boring nature of things allow for planning and daily living.

Oftentimes though, we get very caught up in seeking stability that we are not careful enough to observe a decline in our standards. Sometimes we fear the consequences of change that we simply accept whatever we get as those on the receiving end. When change is necessary though, our souls yearn for it even though our actions betray us.

There is the problem of course with changes and an deviation from the norm. That's always the fear of not knowing what to expect. The way I see it, there is a legitimate reason to fear change, but perhaps an even more valid reason to yearn for it, which is a rebuilding of our hope.
