Government has been out of its element over tech since the 90s. It is its very nature to take too long. It is exactly what big business wants, to get its way in the wild west, and then regulate away any competition. It won't end well for the little guys.
My view is they simply are not designed to operate in the digital world. They are trying to convert but, much like companies, it is hard to do.
Some countries are great at it. Look at Estonia. Or the smaller nations in Scandinavia.
In the US, we lack the incentives to make the government switch to a digital platform. Too many old goobers still in office. We need fresh blood with a modern understanding to move the US government forward with the common sense policies we need for technological success.
