Yesterday, my bike was stolen right out of the garden. I had left it there thinking it would be safe, but clearly, that wasn’t the case. The strange thing is, the garden is gated and not easily accessible to strangers. That’s why I can’t shake the suspicion that the gardeners might have had something to do with it. It’s frustrating to lose something I relied on so much, especially in such an unexpected way.
Now that my old bike is gone, I’ve started looking for a replacement. Part of me is annoyed about the theft, but another part sees it as an opportunity to finally upgrade. I’ve been wanting an e-bike for a while, and this might be the perfect time to make that change. E-bikes would make my daily rides faster, more efficient, and a lot less tiring while covering more ground. So, while it started with a loss, I’m trying to see this as the start of something better.
When it comes to choosing the new bike, I don’t think I’m going to overcomplicate it. I’ve always liked Canyon bikes, and they’ve never let me down before. That’s why I’m leaning toward staying with the same brand. Right now, I’m especially interested in the Spectral:ONfly CF LTD model, which seems to have all the features I’m looking for. It’s sleek, powerful, and fits the type of riding I enjoy most.
Spending 5k€ on a bike is no small decision—it’s a pretty big number to wrap my head around. While I know quality e-bikes can be pricey, that amount still feels like a serious investment. It makes me think I might need to get creative about how to cover the cost. Maybe I could sell some old gear, pick up extra work, or even look into financing options. At the end of the day, if it’s the bike I really want, finding a way to make it happen might be worth the effort.
