Recently, I wrote an article saying that coding may not be the best career for someone to get started. The main reason is that the demand for coding is reducing a lot these days. People rely on bots to generate code for them, and they just review the code after it is created. This is how fast the industry is moving, and there is no need for coding folks anymore.
I initially thought that people who do development are the first ones to get hit because AI can write code. But recently, I learned that even the service industry is going to take a big hit. People who are doing developments will be able to survive this because there will always be a demand for their skills, and they will be able to escape to a different job with their skills. In the service industry, that may not be the case. The skill set of an employee will not be very great, and they might find it hard to get another job if automation keeps replacing jobs.
Humans replaced by AI bots
In many places, AI is replacing the support desk. There will be only one person sitting at the service desk answering the questions that come up. Otherwise, mostly it is answered by the bot itself, and today they are so advanced that they can make communications similar to human beings, and the person sitting in the front and listening will not find any problem with that.
It can become very unnecessary to have many people sitting and doing manual tasks. Everywhere in the world, automation is happening, and many people are losing their jobs if they don't have any knowledge apart from repeating the same set of tasks again and again.
It can be a bubble
Some people also believe that this AI revolution can be very attractive, but it is just a bubble yet to be broken. As long as the AI bubble keeps getting inflated, it will look like a big thing. But later, when the bubble breaks, people will get back to normal, and the industry itself will get back to normal. I wouldn't say that AI may not have any proper use case at all. The fact is that AI will still be a thing, but the confusion around AI might get better.
