Old people are a family's biggest asset. We learn a lot of new things from them. Many times, I have felt that we get to learn a lot of things from them, but are we ready to spend some time with them to do all these things? When we are young, we are busy running around. If we don't spend time with our old people, there is no point in growing up and thinking about the missed opportunities we had.
It can be hard to deal with old people, but it is important to have them in the family. The main reason is that when we are stuck, they help us out with many things. We will not be able to gain all the knowledge we require. If we interact with people who have already done that, we will get a lot of experience and we should be able to do everything without any problem.
Remember that we also get old one day
In India, the culture is to live with your parents no matter what. In some places, people leave their parents and live their own lives. If, after marriage, things are not working out between the wife and mother, they immediately decide to go and live the life alone. What people forget here is the fact that they get a lot of advantages when living in the same family. It is hard to make some people understand these advantages. They will see it only if they experience it. Some people are lucky to have a joint family, and the biggest advantage is that the parents take care of their grandchildren. This gives parents more time and space.
We have to remember that we will also get old someday. We might look young today, but this will not be the case forever. We will get old someday, and that's when we will realize the way we treated old people when we were young. It is a very common thing. When the blood is young and energetic, it will not realize this fact. Some people leave their parents in old-age homes and stay away from them. I don't know how popular it is in other countries, but in India is a shame that many people are doing that. The one thing they forget is that they also get old, and what if their children also do the same thing to them?
