We cannot be 100% successful on everything. There can be instances where we might end up unsuccessful no matter what effort we put in. There are two outcomes of the efforts. We either become successful or we learn something. Learning itself should give us the satisfaction we need and help us stay motivated. If we are someone who works hard for success and has been seeing success in almost everything, it can be very hard to embrace failures. We have to understand that failures are part of the success path.
Sometimes we try several times and we are not successful. We can take a good example from a person who is trying to break the stone. He keeps hitting the stone like 20 times or even 50 times. Hardest sones break after hitting it 50 times. Is it true that the 50th hit alone broke the stone? This is not the case. All the 50 hits helped in the process. If we look at this process, we can see that 49 times when he hit the stone it was a failure. Imagine what if he had stopped the efforts for the 45th time saying that the stone is unbreakable. Someone else who is trying to hit it after that might break it in just 5 hits. We have to understand that all the simple efforts we are making throughout the process are helping us achieve success. Even if we are unsuccessful in some effort, we might be very close to the success threshold.
Sometimes teamwork helps
If as an individual we are unable to achieve something and if we are continuously losing, we have to reconsider our strategy. We have to accept that we are lacking some skill that might be stopping us from being successful. If we get that acceptance we will start looking for that skill outside. It can either be a learning process or it can be a helping hand from other team members. If we can knock on the right door at the right moment, we will get help and we can proceed easily.
Sometimes individual victories also happen
Individuals are not always successful. That doesn't mean that we cannot be successful by doing all the efforts alone. The creator of the game Star Dew Valley was the sole developer who built everything related to the game. Maybe it took a lot of time for him to work and complete the game but he was ultimately successful and the game is also a masterpiece. Imagine how many times he would have felt like not working or not continuing with his efforts. There would have been many gray areas and there would have been instances where he might have felt like quitting altogether and doing something else. But he was confident and he did the right things to keep moving forward towards completion of the game. All his efforts paid off very well towards the end.
The above example maybe is something that is not a success for an individual and not for a team. But we can say that it is a two-edged sword as there are both advantages as well as disadvantages in both strategies. Whatever gives us learning and whatever gives us success, we can choose that path and keep going.
