I too thought about it sometimes but I am clear that google won't be deleting the data as I have seen from my friend's experience. My friend too bought 100 GB storage from google drive, after it's time period ended, he didn't extend it and leave for even 5 months but the data didn't got deleted and offcourse he has copied his data before extention.
