Imagine something out of the ordinary happens and I find myself in a situation where I have to fight for my survival "What am I gonna do?" This is the question I ask myself whenever I watch survival movies.
This particular movie I'm about to talk about is "a great combination of disaster and comedy" I know that part got you smiling, but yeah it did the same to me. The first few scenes of the movie got me throwing some invisible questions at the producer "Like what is this?" But then knowing the fact that Korean movies can be tricky built a level of patience in me, so I maintained it till the whole movie started.
The plot:
The movie tells the story of a man and his family who moved into a house after so many years of hard work, to celebrate his accomplishments of owning a house, he invites his colleagues for a housewarming party which leads to them fighting for their lives when the building collapse into the ground.
As the rain begins to fall filling the sinkhole with water, now the house owner and guest must look for every available means to survive and find their way out. Imagine being one of the cast's "If I come out alive I'm never gonna attend housewarming parties again without carrying out certain investigations about the building".
My view: I'm gonna start with the cast who did incredibly well, I didn't know disaster could be mixed with a touch of comedy, I think it's this mixture that made the movie special which got me engrossed till the end.
One thing I noticed about all these survival movies is someone sacrificing his or her life for the others, I was expecting something of that sort but then they did it in a way that I never expected.
That particular scene became my favorite cause I thought my favorite character wanted to sacrifice himself to save the others, and at that moment my eyes became teary "Like why you?" Can't it be someone else? Then boom out of the blues "he lived" I was super excited when I saw him swimming out of the water.
The one lesson I picked out from this movie is "always carry out significant research before buying a house" This particular house owner was even aware the foundation of the house was bad yet he acted all "ignorant" and just decided to purchase the house cause it was cheap.
I'm going to rate this movie a 7/10.
