RE: From Kindness and my Work Experience | De la Bondad y Mi Experiencia Laboral

There is nothing like being kind in business, it is good for everybody involved, both internally and externally. Unfortunately I fear you are correct in that some people allow a little power to go to their head if given a little power.

Some people also do not want to share their knowledge or teach others what they know, they feel threatened and think that the person they teach will try to take their job. They fail to realize that in order for them to be prompted, someone needs to be able to fill their position. If nobody can do what they can do, how can they do something else?

There is a good tv show (I seldom watch tv) called undercover boss. In it, the owner or CEO of a company goes undercover and in disguise as a low level employee within their organizations. To explain the cameras and film crews they have a cover story such as making a documentary about re entering the workforce.

They get to see things they are normally insulated from, and as you highlighted, things that middle management dictate are a disconnect from what the senior management dictate.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and it’s the same within organizations. When we don’t treat people well, they resent coming to work, perform beneath their potential, leave or get poached by other organizations who do recognize thier worth. It’s just a bad situation and unsustainable in the long term.

Great post my friend. I am sorry it has been taking me so long to read and comment on everybody’s posts. Hope your weekend is going well.
