Hola, querida comunidad #Greenzone, hoy quiero unirme al hermoso reto que propuso mi amiga @neuropoeta, quien compartió la conmovedora historia de una gatita que, después de encontrar cariño en casa de su vecina, ahora tiene tres hermosos gatitos y trata del amor que nos une a estos animalitos. Ese gesto tan tierno me recordó a un amigo muy especial que tengo desde hace algún tiempo, como saben mis amigos hace cuestión de dos años vivo en uno de los edificios altos de la ciudad de Matanzas y allí habitan también más de un centenar de gatos entre grandes y pequeños. Entre ellos he desarrollado una relación especial con uno al que llamo en mis post como el gato del edificio.

Este felino callejero, del que ya he hablado en otras ocasiones, se ha convertido casi en una presencia habitual en los alrededores del lugar. No tiene dueño alguno, pero se ha ganado el cariño de muchos.

Durante mucho tiempo fue desconfiado, observaba desde lejos, esquivo y silencioso. Pero, con paciencia, logré ganarme su confianza. Poco a poco comenzó a acercarse, a dejarse ver más seguido y, un día, finalmente permitió que lo acariciara. A partir de ese momento, supe que nuestra amistad se había sellado.

Hoy, casualmente, al salir del edificio, ya tenía la intención de participar en el reto propuesto por la amiga y aunque estaba recordando otra historia, de las que he acumulado muchas a lo largo de la vida, me encontré nuevamente con el gato. Estaba tirado al sol, disfrutando de la tranquilidad de la mañana. En cuanto me vió, se acercó y empezó a juguetear conmigo como si me estuviera esperando. No pude resistirme y le pedí al novio de mi hija me hiciera las fotos mientras jugaba con él. Las fotos reflejan perfectamente la confianza y la conexión que se ha formado entre nosotros. Me hace pensar que, a veces, los milagros no vienen envueltos en grandes gestos, sino en la mirada tierna de un animal que decide confiar en ti. De eso se trata, estos pequeños animales que han recibido maltrato o abandono por diversas razones, vuelven a confiar en nosotros y nos dan su cariño.

Ese pequeño encuentro, tan simple y cotidiano, me recordó lo valioso que es el vínculo entre los humanos y los animales. Ellos no hablan, pero comunican con sus gestos, su energía y su presencia. Por eso, para mí, este gato es un verdadero milagro de cuatro patas, un alma libre que ha decidido regalarme un poco de su cariño. Incluso me agaché postura que evito desde mi esguince de cadera, pero el momento lo valía. Quisiera llevarlo conmigo pero no puedo, el apartamento es prestado y no me permiten animales, además perdería su libertad. Claro eso no me impide alimentarlo y cuidar de él.

Miracles on Four Paws. The Cat from the Building

Hello, dear #Greenzone community, today I want to join the beautiful challenge proposed by my friend @neuropoeta, who shared the touching story of a little cat that, after finding affection at her neighbor’s house, now has three beautiful kittens, and it’s all about the love that connects us to these little animals. That tender gesture reminded me of a very special friend I’ve had for some time. As my friends know, about two years ago I moved into one of the tall buildings in the city of Matanzas, and there live more than a hundred cats, both big and small. Among them, I’ve developed a special relationship with one I call in my posts “the cat from the building.”

This stray feline, whom I’ve mentioned before, has become almost a regular presence around the place. He has no owner, but he’s earned the affection of many.

For a long time, he was distrustful, watching from afar, wary and silent. But with patience, I managed to earn his trust. Little by little, he began to come closer, to show up more often, and one day, he finally allowed me to pet him. From that moment, I knew our friendship had been sealed.

Today, coincidentally, as I was leaving the building, I already intended to participate in the challenge proposed by my friend, and although I was remembering another story, of which I’ve collected many throughout my life, I ran into the cat again. He was lying in the sun, enjoying the calm of the morning. As soon as he saw me, he came over and started playing with me as if he had been waiting.
I couldn’t resist and asked my daughter’s boyfriend to take some photos of me while I played with him. The photos perfectly reflect the trust and connection that has formed between us. It makes me think that sometimes miracles don’t come wrapped in grand gestures, but in the tender gaze of an animal that decides to trust you. That’s what it’s about, these little creatures that have suffered mistreatment or abandonment for various reasons, learn to trust us again and give us their affection.

That small, simple, everyday encounter reminded me how valuable the bond between humans and animals truly is. They don’t speak, but they communicate through their gestures, their energy, and their presence.
That’s why, to me, this cat is a true miracle on four paws, a free soul that has decided to gift me a bit of his affection. I even crouched down, a position I’ve avoided since my hip sprain, but the moment was worth it. I wish I could take him with me, but I can’t, the apartment is borrowed, and pets aren’t allowed, plus he would lose his freedom. Of course, that doesn’t stop me from feeding him and taking care of him.
