The community of Quetepe has a group of fishermen, which is why, on the main wall as you enter the beach, there is a mural depicting the Virgin of the Valley, featuring several reliefs made of different materials to make it more eye-catching. Her dress is made of white fabric and lace, with a pink center. The crown is made of small fabric flowers and pieces of glass to make it sparkle even from a great distance.
Every time they set sail, the fishermen entrust themselves to the Virgin of the Valley, as they consider her their patron saint and protector—a tradition that has been upheld for centuries. As I’ve shown previously on my blog, I’ve come across several images of the Virgin on different beaches throughout Sucre State.
When we entered Quetepe, we came across another mural—this one featuring the area’s name—with a volleyball net in the background and the silhouettes of some players. This area is known for its recreational facilities; given its size, events are held here frequently, and it was even home to the Water Park.
Through this visit, I’ve realized that the Quetepe community has much more to offer than just its beautiful beach; it also has lovely hills, a mangrove forest, and land suitable for farming, making this a diverse and quite extensive ecosystem.
For some time, Quetepe was the favorite beach of event organizers because of its large open area leading up to the beach, which later shrunk due to increased construction—a change that is evident at a glance. As a result, beach festivals and similar events began to be held on the beaches of San Luis and The Peñon, both located in Cumana.

Este sitio se ha caracterizado por las instalaciones recreativas, dado que, por su extensión se realizan eventos de forma frecuente, inclusive aquí se ubicaba el Parque Acuático.
Con esta visita me he dado cuenta que la comunidad de Quetepe tiene mucho más que ofrecer que su hermosa playa, además posee hermosas colinas, un manglar y terrenos aptos para la siembra, lo que convierte este lugar en un ecosistema variado y bastante amplio.
Quetepe fue por algún tiempo la playa predilecta de promotores de eventos debido a su gran terreno previo a la playa, mismo que posteriormente fue disminuyendo debido al aumento de construcciones, lo que se advierte a simple vista. Debido a ello, los festivales playeros y eventos similares pasaron a realizarse en las playas de San Luis y de El Peñón, ambas ubicadas en Cumaná.
