So that's where the name came from! In a way I guess it's surprising the European settlers even retained that name.

Also don't forget the Dutch and the Portuguese colonial efforts in America.

Fort Mackinac looks wonderful as does that food - again!

        As I've said, it definitely has a charm about it. You get a lot of bang for your buck when you visit here.
