Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are all right. Not long ago, I visited Aceh. Of course, I take advantage of touring historical places. The place I visited was the Aceh Museum. I came here, along with international guests who followed us. I'll start the story.
The Aceh Museum is located on Jalan Iskandar Muda, Banda Aceh. It is located not far from the Baiturahman mosque. This museum building adopts a traditional Acehnese house which is tall and resembles a ship with a protruding funnel. This museum was designed by the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil.
The design carried in the Museum is Rumoh Aceh as Escape Hill. This museum was inaugurated in 2008 but only opened to the public in 2011. Entrance tickets to this museum are very cheap. Each person only needs to pay IDR 10,000. I want to tell you about the Aceh Tsunami Museum on the ground floor. The ground floor is made into an open space which functions as a public space.
Public spaces seem to provide a safe distance from the threat of tsunami waves. The motif for the outer walls of the building was adapted from the Saman dance. The Saman dance symbolizes the strength, discipline, and religious beliefs of the people in Aceh. Then enter a vertical corridor that looks like a chimney. Then enter The Light of God room.
This room contains the names of the victims of the Aceh tsunami. Since entering the vertical passage, I felt dazed and sad. He said this was felt by the tsunami victims in Aceh. The peak of my sadness was in the room where the names of the tsunami victims were written down. In this museum, there are 6,038 collections. However, not everything is on display. The management rotates the collection on display every 6 months.
The museum also displays electronic simulations of earthquakes, pictures of victims, and testimonies of survivors. The total cost of building the museum reached IDR 70 billion, consisting of 2 building floors. There are remnants of the Aceh tsunami. The most prominent diorama is a boat hit by a high wave on the beach. There was also a PLTD Apung ship that was swept to land.
That's my story about this place. It's sad to remember this disaster. The Aceh tsunami was the biggest disaster that occurred in Indonesia. what do you think about this place? see you in my next story. Don't get bored reading my story.
